Some weird Satanic dust particle covered the entirety of my Mustang,
and it doesn’t just dust off.
No, this mother fucking junk
stuck
to the paint, bumper to bumper, and guess what: I loathe detailing. I properly hate it. While I love turning wrenches and building cars, I will never love detailing paint; I don’t know why. Thankfully I have a beater car to go to work in because I quit for tonight. I’ve got half the car clayed of this Satanic dust bullshit but I still have to clay the other half and seal the paint.
tldr: fuck

Would a pressure washer help, or make things worse?

I always use a pressure washer when I wash my cars. I tend not to put the gun right on the paint (usually 12" from the paint) in order to preserve it but even with my typical wash, this junk wasn’t coming off. Strange stuff. If I ran my finger across it, it just felt grainy and didn’t come off. The clay bar did take it right off though.

Paint is the goddamn worst part of a car. with how expensive it is, you think it would be a little more durable.

You picked the worst color for someone who hates detailing. I like to detail, and I would never own a black car again.

Probably wouldn’t hurt in this case because he is already using a clay bar, (which will strip any contaminants off the paint as well as wax anyway). If you are not claying your car, or about to polish it I wouldn’t suggest using a pressure washer. It’ll remove the wax from the paint. Carnuba wax is really soft (similar to lip balm). Doesn’t take much to strip it off.

Was it like dried droplets? I’ve had something like that show up many times on my car; if I use the wipers and washer fluid to get rid of it, everything usually just smears. But typically water does the trick with some elbow grease and a towel.
Nasty stuff, and I have yet to figure out where it comes from.

If you were near Dayton, I would detail that for you. I have weird fetishes...

Yeah, some fetishes I will never understand.

That first detail after the salt of winter is the best. It’s like therapy. Also Dayton, Ohio fuck yeah! That’s my hometown

Understood. I don't understand a great many fetishes.
